Vote For Clinton

I think you should vote for Clinton. She is trying to stop the war with Iraq. Iraq Troop Production is trying to stop the war before the next president. Bush wants to keep the war with Iraq, Hilary wants to end it. That is on reason I'm voting for Clinton. Another reason to vote for Clinton is because she is also trying to help cut gas prices. Obama is against Hilary's plan. Next summer Hilary wants the oil companies to pay fr gas not you. Hilary will stand up for middle class. Over 47 million Americans including 9 million kids don't have health insurance, Hilary plans on improving health care by lowering cost and getting better quality. There are many other things that Hilary plans on doing like improving the environment and improving schools. I think she will be a great next president.

Louis Braille

For the past few days I have been reading Louis Braille by Margaret Davidson. The main character is Louis Braille. The setting takes place in a lot of different places like the Institute. Louis is a blind boy that invented books for the blind. He always wanted to try and create someway to read books easy for people who could not see. There were raised print books but he never took interest in them because it wasn't as simple as it could be. So one day he planned to make books for the blind but everyone said it was impossible. That never stopped him he kept saying I can do it I can do it. He was trying to make it simple but couldn't. Then one day he made six dot patter called a cell and then colored in 1 which meant A. Then he did B with 2 dots colored in. Though since I am writing on the Wiki I can not show you but if you look at the back of the book you will find Braille there. Louis was determined to find a way for the blind to read. In the beginning when he first wrote braille no one used them and now they are used all over the world. Louis became a teacher at the Institute. He died in 1852 but is still known all over the world. His body was buried in the cemetery of Coupvray. Now his coffin is in Paris and is in the building called the Pantheon where all of France's most honored men are. Louis Braille has changed the life for blind people. He is really one of the most honored men in France.

Helen Keller

For the past few days I have been reading Helen Keller by Margaret Davidson. The setting takes place in two different places, the school garden, and Helen's house. The main characters are Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan. The problem in my story is that Helen Keller is blind and deaf so it's really hard for her to learn but when a stranger comes she learns how to do sign language. Helen never knew her name but when she learns sign language by writing the word in her hand then letting her feel what the teacher wrote in her hand she learns her name. For example she wrote doll in Helen's hand then she let her her feel the doll and Helen knew what it was. It was very hard for Annie Sullivan to teach because everyone felt so sorry for Helen they always let her get her way. She was spoiled. When she didn't get her way she screamed, kicked and pinched people. Finally Helen learned self-control when she had to go with Annie Sullivan to a garden house a few blocks away. She learned how to write back to her teacher and she didn't hit her anymore. The solution is she learns self-control and how to talk, write and read. The ending is very sad her teacher Annie Sullivan dies but Helen ends up giving a lot of speeches. She is a spectacular person who was blind and deaf. You will find this book in the non-fiction section in our classroom.

Charlotte's Web by E.B White

I have been reading Charlotte's Web by E.B White. The main characters are Charlotte and Wilbur. The story takes place at Mr. Zuckerman's barn. The problem is the Zuckerman's and the Arables are planning on eating Wilbur for Christmas as a Christmas ham or bacon. Charlotte a friendly gray spider plans on saving Wilbur's life. So to help save Wilbur's life Charlotte is going to have to do some pretty fantastic things. Charlotte saves Wilbur's life by creating words inside her spectacular web like Some Pig, Terrific, radiant and humble. The humans are tricked into thinking that the pig is a miracle. Thanks to Charlotte's clever ways in the end Wilbur is saved. That's not all. Everybody knows no one can live forever and neither can the friendly gray spider Charlotte. So Charlotte passes away with no body there with her. But before she dies she has something to give for Wilbur to remember her. Her children. Soon they all grow up and fly away and Wilbur is very sad. But after he wakes up three spiders are in the barns doorway the way Charlotte used to be he feels up with joy. Wilbur saw snow and lived for as long as a pig could. He loved Charlotte's children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren and so on and so forth but none of them were as great as Charlotte. She was in a class of her own. Not only was she a true friend but also a great writer.

Bridge to Terabithia

For the past month I have been reading Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson. Bridge to Terabithia is a John Newbery Medal which means it is a great literature book for children. In Bridge to Terabithia the main characters are Jess and Leslie. The story takes place at three places Terabithia, Jesse's house (and barn) and Leslie house. The problem is in Terabithia. Fighting off imaginary creatures is very hard for Leslie and Jess especially if there your fears in reality just in a different form. Once Jess and Leslie overcome their fears from Terabithia they can fight their real fears in their reality life. For example there is a(n) bully named Janice Avery in reality but in Terabithia she's a big giant. They fight her off in Terabithia by tickling her. But when she stole Jesse's little sisters food in they fight her off by writing her a love note from the boy of her dreams. But in the end she ends up friends with Jess and Leslie. The ending is very sad so won't tell you but I'll tell you something very good in the end he ends up making a fantastic bridge to Terabithia. If you are interested in reading this book you will not find it in our local classroom.

A Look at Spiders

The book I have read is called A Look At Spiders by Jerald Halpern. The main characters are the different kinds of spiders. My story took place in many places like mountains, forests, , holes and all sorts of other places that spiders live. Spiders are not incests. The reason why is because they have 8 legs and no wings but insects have 6 legs and most of the time have wings. Spiders have 8 eyes and have five strong sences. The strogets sence is touch. They can feel anything near them. Their mouth has front pinchers to taste and smell food. Spiders have small holes in their legs to help them hear. Spiders are really fascinating creatures! They help fight of insects. People may be afraid of spiders but that’s because they don’t know what spiders are like. If you study them then you can see how cool they really are.

Ruby Holler by Sharon Creech

The book I am reading is called Ruby Holler by Sharon Creech. The main characters are Dallas, Florida, Sairy and Tiller. The story takes place in a cabin at a barn that is in the deep forest of Ruby Holler. The problem is Dallas and Florida don’t trust Sairy and Tiller because they have been adopted before and have been sent right back to the orphanage. The other problem is everybody calls them trouble twins and they believe it. So they cause Sairy and Tiller a hard time. They break a lot of things so it is really hard for Sairy and Tiller. The other problem is Florida and Dallas have been saving up money for a long time to get on a train and go somewhere far together. In the end they end up staying in Ruby Holler with Sairy and Tiller. It turns out that Sairy and tiller can handle them and they said they never ever were going at least for now. I think that this book is really good and if you want to read it you can find it in our classroom.

Freddie in Peril

One of the characters in my book Freddy in Peril is Freddy. Freddy is a hamster that sleeps on a bookshelf. Freddy can talk and type so he can communicate with humans in a way. So one day he post his life story on the internet and Professor Fleischkoph saw it and knows Freddy is no ordinary hamster and now he is trying to hunt Freddy down to experiment his brain. Freddy is orange and tan and that is a special kind of hamster in this book. They are called Golden Hamsters. Golden hamsters are the ones Professor Fleischkopf wants to experiment. Freddy is a golden hamster that can talk and type so that makes even more valuable for Professor Fleischkopf. Freddy sleeps in the day and is up at night so he is a nocturnal golden hamster. Freddy is very kind and stubborn at the same time because he will do something for you but he will also say no and be a little bad like typing his life story on the computer. Freddy is not going to let Professor K hamster-nap him so he is going to Peril to hide from the evil scientist. I think that Freddy in Peril is very cool and I wish I could go somewhere far just like him.

Frindle

For the past month I have been reading Frindle by Andrew Clements. The main characters are Mrs. Granger and Nick. The setting takes place at Lincoln Elementary. The problem in the story is Nick made up a new word. Nick’s new word is frindle. Mrs. Granger doesn’t like his new word so she tries everything she can to prevent Nicks word from going into the dictionary but she knows it as so she was rooting for it. They have a conference and during the conference they talk about Nick’s word Frindle. Nick won’t stop using his word so Mrs. Granger posted up a note saying, “Anyone who is seen or heard using the word frindle will stay after school with me and write, “I am writing this punishment with a pen.” They will have to write it 100 times but, the story end with Nicks word going in the dictionary on page 541. Then Mrs. Granger tells Nick to turn to page 541 and there he reads, Frin.dle [frin’dl] a device used to write or make marks with ink {arbitrary coinage; originated by Nicholas Allen, American, 1987-[see pen]. Then Nick went back to the note by Mrs. Granger. This is an brand-new dictionary the one I recommend that my students use for their homework. Now when I teach them how new words are added to the dictionary, I tell each and every one to look up the word frindle. And of course I have sent along that letter I promised to give to you when our little battle was over. And now it’s over. She also wrote,” Dear Nicholas, If you are reading this letter, it means that frindle has been added to the dictionary. Congratulations. A person can watch the sunrise. but he cannot slow it down or stop it or make it go backward. And that is what I was trying to do with your word. I am sorry. Your teacher, Mrs. Granger. that was how it ended. I think that frindle is very interesting. I also wish I had a brain like Nick.
